The Focus 2012 photography event was held in Ramjas College by “ARBITRAGE”, the annual festival of Commerce society of Ramjas. This was the first time in the history of Ramjas College that a photography competition and exhibition was held in the campus. It was a great opportunity for young, budding photographers to showcase their talent in this field. It received an overwhelming response from the faculty as well as students during the exhibition. It was open for all college and university students, of both full time and part time courses.
It was organized by Abhinav Kakkar, Shilpa Jhakal and Naman Jain. The competition attracted participants from many colleges like Ramjas, Daulat Ram, etc. It was held on 23rd February. The participants had to register themselves on 23rd and were given themes on which they had to take photographs in the campus for the given time. Each participant had to get his own camera. Photos were to be submitted along with an appropriate caption for it. Other than cropping and B&W tones, any kind of post processing was prohibited.
The themes for the event were “Fun in the Sun” and “Solitude”. The results of the competition were declared on 24th February. The judges for this competition were Avdhesh Shukla and Amit Kumar
The winner of “Fun in the Sun” was Achyut Misra of Ramjas College and the winner of “Solitude” was Sanyam Bajaj of
Bhim Rao Ambedkar College. Participants were judged on the basis of their imagination, creativity and knowledge of photography. Prizes worth Rs. 3000 were given away.
There was also a photography exhibition cum sale on 24th, in which some previous work of students of department was displayed and put on sale. The winning entries of the competition were also put on sale, the whole proceeds of which (in case it got a buyer) were given to the participant.
