The
Ramjas Debating Society successfully hosted the 7th edition of its
annual debating tournament Polemic, from 14th-17th Feb. The tournament involved
36 teams from all over the country including NLS Bangalore, St.Xavier's Kolkata
and and many cross-institutional teams of
reputed debaters other than the teams from Delhi University battling for
the title. The tournament was won by a cross team of Eashan Ghosh and Uttara
Gharpure, both NLS Bangalore alumni with immense reputation in the national
circuit and achievements in the international circuit. The runners up was Venky
College(Venky A).
Polemic
has immense reputation across the country by virtue of the unique debating
format it had introduced during it's inception. Not only was it unique but it
was also more exciting and challenging which was why many colleges in Delhi
University incorporated this format into their tournaments as well, including
Hansraj, Hindu and St.Stephens.
This
innovative format is one among the many achievements for which Ramjas Debating
Society has been known for, which include title victories across the
subcontinent and successful ventures in international tournaments. Unprecedented passion, infallible
character and humility have been the hallmarks of the society, making the
college proud.
Kudos
to the President, Alisha Chatterjee(Eng.Hons 3rd yr) on hosting the event
successfully and to the adj core(organising team comprising of former Ramjas
debators) who inspite of the engagements came and helped maintain the tournament's
quality. The Adj Core included Siddhartha Thyagarajan, Shobhit Nanda, Karandeep
Khanna, Saad Uzzaman and Pradyumna Jairam, all of them very successful debators
during their days, today considered legends in the national circuit. Special
thanks to Vartik Upadhaya(Eng.Hons 1st yr) for having helped with sponsorship
issues, inspite of not being a member of the society.
