School of Open Learning-A Short Introduction

The School of open learning (SOL) - It is a part of the Campus of open Learning, established under the University of Delhi in 1962. Formerly it is known as the School of Correspondence courses and Continuing education. It is a pioneer institute in the field of Distance Education in India. The main office is located in North Campus, University Enclave, Delhi University.




In 1962 this alternate mode of education was started with 900 students and today it enrolled more than 1.5 Lakhs students per academic session.The admissions for different courses take place under rules and regulations of University of Delhi.

The one of the best part of this institution is that, it awards the same degree to its SOL Students as it does in the case of other regular constituent colleges under university of Delhi.According to University of Delhi, there is no difference between the course curriculum followed by the School of Open Learning and other constituent colleges and Departments of University.

In the session of 1990-91 the School of open Learning established a South Study centre at moti bagh to reach out more students.

The School of Open Learning offers Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree courses in the subjects of Arts/Humanitites and Commerce.The medium of instruction is primarily through well prepared printed course material which is distributed by mail to each and every enrolled student. Apart from this School also organizes Personal Contact Programs at various study centers to help the students more effectively.The school also maintained a well stocked library to helps students of different streams of offered courses.

The School of open learning provides the best way to all those who wants the flexible medium to attain the higher education.

How to Apply

For Undergraduate Programs:

Admission to the First year of Undergraduate Course at SOL opens in the month of June. The Pospectus can be obtained either from the Main Centre at North Campus or from the South Study Centre at South Moti Bagh, New Delhi.
Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.


For Post Graduate Programs:

Admission to the Postgraduate courses at SOL opens in the months of August and September. The Admission in the  Post graduation courses will be on the basis on Entrance conducted by University.
